{"id":43,"date":"2006-03-23T18:06:21","date_gmt":"2006-03-24T02:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.awadallah.com\/blog\/2006\/03\/23\/google-testing-ads-at-bottom-of-their-serp\/"},"modified":"2006-03-23T18:09:19","modified_gmt":"2006-03-24T02:09:19","slug":"google-testing-ads-at-bottom-of-their-serp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.awadallah.com\/blog\/google-testing-ads-at-bottom-of-their-serp\/","title":{"rendered":"Google testing ads at bottom of their SERP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the light blog posting lately, very busy with a couple of projects at Yahoo and exploring <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ghostrecon.com\/us\/ghostrecon3\/index.php\">G.R.A.W.<\/a> on the 360.<\/p>\n<p>I grabbed this screenshot from Google&#8217;s SERP more than a week ago, I think this is the last change to make the Google SERP look identical to the Yahoo SERP \ud83d\ude42 (actually Yahoo shows 4 ads in the north in very rare cases, and Google only shows up to 3, though I did see them testing 4 last year).<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<a title=\"Google Ads Bottom\" href=\"https:\/\/www.awadallah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/03\/ScreenShot060.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image41\" alt=\"Google Ads Bottom\" src=\"https:\/\/www.awadallah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/03\/ScreenShot060.gif\"><\/a><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Ignore the result numbering (like 9. and 10. for the last two results) that is an artifact of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.customizegoogle.com\/\">CustomizeGoogle<\/a> module (I like numbering for results, and it has an option to add that).<\/p>\n<p>Finally, don&#8217;t you guys think that this promotion for Desktop Search is horrible from a UI point of view? it overlaps heavily with the pagination module at bottom of their SERP that you can mistakenly click on it instead of the Next arrow:<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<a title=\"Desktop Search promo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.awadallah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/03\/ScreenShot057.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image42\" alt=\"Desktop Search promo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.awadallah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/03\/ScreenShot057.gif\"><\/a><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Cheers,<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; amr<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the light blog posting lately, very busy with a couple of projects at Yahoo and exploring G.R.A.W. on the 360.
